The incomparably jovial and talented musician known as Stevie Wonder will be bringing his talents to Brooklyn’s own Barclays Center this April. Stevie is an internationally acclaimed and expansively accomplished pianist, singer and songwriter who has moved listeners since signing with Motown as an eleven year old. His accolades include 25 Grammy awards, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in addition to a whole lot more. The show at Barclays will be one of the highlights of Wonder’s current tour throughout the United States.
This run by Stevie Wonder is entitled the Songs in the Key of Life Tour. The name is taken from one of Wonder’s most renowned albums, which he is reviving with live renditions of the full album throughout this stretch of performances. The album featured two number one pop singles, I wish and Sir Duke, along with several other classics including Isn’t She Lovely and Another Star.
The revival of this iconic collection of music is a major gift from Mr. Wonder to the music world at large, especially younger crowds who missed out on the original release of Songs in the Key of Life. An historic endeavor, the city of Brooklyn and the Barclays Center are truly blessed to be involved. With state of the art entertainment technology and a thoughtfully modern design for a premium viewing experience for all, the relatively young Barclays Center stands to serve as an ideal host for the storied musician.
Taking place on April 12th, Brooklyn will welcome Stevie Wonder after he comes off a string of shows in Austin, Nashville, Baltimore and more. As the legendary performer’s long career has an unknown amount of time left, every single performance gains weight in significance.
