Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

If you’re in New York for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, then you’re in the right place at NU Hotel Brooklyn.

Did you know The Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade is the 2nd oldest parade in the country? This year marks the 88th anniversary of the parade and it promises to be bigger than ever. The parade, which is a total of 2.5 miles in length, kicks off at 77th street and Central park West at 9:00 a.m., then goes by Central Park West – where a lot of people like view it, early birds should aim to get there at 6:00 a.m. on the west side of Central Park West from 59th to 75th street. The parade then turns to Columbus Circle onto Central Park South. The parade makes its final stop in front of Macy’s Herald Square.

You can even mix in some shopping and get great views of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade when you go to the Time Warner Center and the shops at Columbus Circle. From the 2nd and 3rd floors you can see the parade!
If you are in Brooklyn on Thanksgiving and looking for a delicious Thanksgiving meal then you are in luck — there are several local restaurants serving Thanksgiving Dinner. At the Fat Goose (123 Wythe St.) enjoy a $55 three course meal with everything from turkey breast confit to marscapone and butternut squash. Alice’s Arbor (549 Classon Avenue) is serving a $45 prix fixe menu which includes oysters, sea bass and several delicious vegetarian options. Looking for no frills turkey and cranberry sauce? Head to Daisey’s Diner (452 5th avenue) for a traditional Thanksgiving meal which includes Turkey, stuffing , cranberry sauce and pie!
