Here at NU Hotel Brooklyn, our NU Perspective Rooms weren’t designed to blend in. They’re bold, creative, and an unmistakable reflection of our borough, just like the artists who brought them to life. With hand-painted murals, art-forward accents, and a layout that feels more like a studio than a hotel room, these are spaces that truly bring a whole new side of Brooklyn to your stay.
The Artists Behind the Walls
Every mural in our NU Perspective Rooms is painted by a Brooklyn artist with a clear point of view. The result is a collection of rooms that each tell a different story — some about the city’s skyline, others about its sound, humor, or energy. You won’t find generic prints or safe choices here. Instead, you’ll walk into something original, shaped by the people who live and create in the borough.
Around each mural, we’ve designed the space to match that same spirit: thoughtful materials, intentional design choices, and lived-in comfort. There’s a little edge, a little calm, and plenty of space to make the room your own.
Brooklyn Rhythms by Viktoriya Basina
One of the newest additions to the series comes from Brooklyn-based artist Viktoriya Basina. Her mural, Brooklyn Rhythms, captures the feeling of moving through the city as you take in the sounds all around you — the mix of saxophones and trumpets from subway platforms, layered with the rumble of trains and street noise.
That sound comes alive visually, alongside nods to iconic landmarks like Brooklyn City Hall, One Hanson Place, the Brooklyn Tower, and the Brooklyn Bridge. There’s motion in the piece that mirrors how the borough actually feels. It’s fast, textured, and always just a little unpredictable.
Jonathan Blum’s View of the City
A few rooms over, Jonathan Blum offers a different take on the Brooklyn skyline. He’s lived here since 1999, and his art has popped up everywhere from storefronts to solo shows. His mural includes one of his signature fictional dogs perched against the city’s changing silhouette.
It’s not a polished postcard version of Brooklyn. There’s humor in the scene, and something unmistakably local in the way it’s put together — like the city itself, it’s layered, expressive, and slightly unexpected.
What Sets These Rooms Apart
The NU Perspective Rooms are a true reflection of Brooklyn’s creative pulse. Each space connects you directly to the neighborhood, not just through the art on the walls, but in the energy and character woven into every detail.
By working with local artists, we bring the borough’s spirit into the room through real, authentic expression. It’s a space that feels like it’s part of the street outside, with stories that stay with you long after you leave.
Your Stay, Your Perspective
Every NU Perspective Room is one of a kind. You might stay in a room with a mural that pulls you into the skyline or one that makes you view the neighborhood in a whole new way. Either way, you’ll be waking up in a space that is a true celebration of the neighborhood we know and love. If you’re looking for something beyond the expected, consider this your invitation.
