In the shadow of the critically acclaimed film Brooklyn, interest in getting to know Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn may be at an all-time high. If you’re looking to get to know the Brooklyn that was flush with immigrants fresh off the boat in the early 20th century, you’re in luck.
The Brooklyn Historical Society offers free, hour-long tours of the heart of historic Brooklyn every Sunday with admission to the museum. Landmark architectural structures and other points of historic interest are pointed out and described on the tours. You may be touring Brooklyn in the 21st century, but the tour guides will do their best to take you back in time and imagine what life was like for previous generations living in Brooklyn.
