The words “let’s go fly a kite” may throw you back to your childhood, but the magic of kite flying is not lost. Modern-day kites are more diverse and impressive than ever, especially when flying in large numbers with the iconic NYC skyline in the background. If you’ll be in Brooklyn this September, consider attending the Brooklyn Kite Festival to see hundreds of these toys take flight in all their glory. You’re welcome to simply spectate and photograph, but participation is encouraged. If you don’t have your own kite, a range of flyers will be available for sale at Brooklyn Bridge Park, just a 20-minute stroll from NU Hotel Brooklyn.
