The late street artist and virtuoso painter Jean-Michel Basquiat left his mark scribbling socially thoughtful and poignant poetry around New York City under the name Samo. He became an icon, with a distinct style that blended aesthetics of graffiti, cave drawings, and abstract expressionism. The Brooklyn Museum, just down the road from Nu Hotel, is sharing an unprecedented exhibit featuring Basquiat’s personal notebooks.
