Hunters (213 Smith St.) is new American done right. We love their Steak Tartar, truffle fries and the ravioli. The brunch at Hunters is also worth checking out. Battersby (255 Smith Street) rose to prominence when Bon Appétit magazine recently raved about the Crisp Kale Salad at this cozy 28-seat restaurant on Smith Street where the menu is small and the food is focused, which one would expect given chefs and co-owners, Joseph Ogrodnek and Walker Stern, have worked at established and acclaimed restaurants like Blue Hill and Gramercy Tavern. Café Lucluc (214 Smith St.) serves breakfast 7 days a week and we strongly advise you try their pancakes. They achieve a balance of crispy fluffiness that is praiseworthy. Bar Tabac ( 128 Smith Street) serves a host of bistro cuisine including french onion soup, mussels and pommes frites (french fries). The real star at Bar Tabac is the ambiance. Enjoy live jazz four days a week and enjoy patio seating, perfect for people watching on busy Smith Street. For wine and fondue, stop by The Jakewalk (282 Smith Street), where charcuterie plates, fondue and cava abound. For pan Asian fare with vegetarian leanings, check out Wild Ginger (112 Smith Street) where vegetarians and vegans love the bold flavors and exciting dishes. For Italian, don’t miss Pane E Vino (174 Smith Street) an unassuming Italian restaurant with delicious food and live music weekly.
