You want to Celebrate Brooklyn Attending Concerts in Prospect Park
BRIC arts media and the Prospect Park Alliance are continuing their tradition of an all summer-long festival for the performing arts. With free performances from world-renowned artists, there are many accessible and worthwhile experiences to be enjoyed during this unique festival series. Brooklyn being a New York City borough where being outside and being festive are not only norms, but they are encouraged, makes it the ideal atmosphere to go out for fun summer nights.
The festival kicked off June 4th with Janelle Monae. Her funky special energy along with stellar dancing and soulful voice set the stage for Celebrate Brooklyn as an upbeat display of talent.
The concerts will continue in Prospect Park until a highly anticipated finale on August 9th with a performance by St. Vincent. Her brilliant and penetrating sound will be a beautiful way to cap off the festival.
In between there promises to be an exciting variety of shows in the coveted and historical Prospect Park Bandshell. Among those most anticipated are: The National, Robert Glasper Experiment featuring Talib Kweli, Shen Wei Dance, Deltron 3030 and Nickel Creek.
In addition to the free shows, Neutral Milk Hotel and the Bad Seeds will be performing separate benefit concerts. Even the shows that don’t give free- admittance to fans, give something at Celebrate Brooklyn.
The conception of this festival played a major role in the revitalization of Prospect Park. The goal of bringing people to this wonderful area of Brooklyn has been met. Now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of the wonderful effort that is Celebrate Brooklyn.
Great music performed by interesting artists— both known and unknown— along with a welcoming atmosphere and the ambiance of Brooklyn summer nights. With all this in mind, one can be certain that concerts in Prospect Park will be a great option for entertainment in New York City this summer.
