The NBA All-Star Weekend is coming to New York City this February, bringing a slew of one-of-a-kind events to the city that never sleeps. For the first time, the weekend will be split between two different venues: the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden will host the All-Star Game, Celebrity All-Star Game and a public practice, while the rest of the weekend’s events will take place right here in Brooklyn at the sleek and modern Barclays Center!
The NBA All-Star Weekend at Barclays Center is sure to impress right off the bat. Brooklyn competitions start on Friday, February 13 with the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. This relatively new piece of the NBA’s All-Star festivities is an excellent display of young talent featuring the best rookies and sophomores in the NBA squaring off against one another.
The next day, the Barclays Center will take center stage, hosting the action packed State Farm All-Star Saturday Night. This electric evening will kick off with the Shooting Stars Contest — comprised of teams with one NBA player, one WNBA player and an NBA legend — and the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, arguably the most dynamic of the night’s competitions.
Saturday night will close with the two most popular and storied events in the history of the NBA All-Star Weekend. The Foot Locker Three-Point Contest has featured the league’s best sharpshooters since before the days of Larry Bird. Marco Belinelli won last year’s shootout, and whether or not he will defend his title is yet to be determined. Next up, the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest will once again showcase the incredible athleticism and acrobatics of the NBA’s highest flyers.
With so many eyes on these fun, exciting events, it’s sure to be an excellent weekend. The Nu Hotel near Barclays Center is the perfect place to stay during All-Star Weekend, offering opportunities to attend events conveniently while soaking up the culture of Brooklyn’s vibrant neighborhoods.
