If you’ve been weighing whether or not to visit NYC for Pride this year, Pride Month 2017 promises to be an energetic and memorable one. NU Hotel Brooklyn is celebrating with a special pride package this June.

The Glisten Pride Package

As part of the package, 10% of your room’s rate will be donated to GLSEN, the leading education organization creating safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ youth. The package, available throughout June, also rewards you with two-for-one drinks at the hotel’s Misdemeanor Bar & Lounge and room upgrades, when available.

For those of you who still weighing your options, here’s why NYC is one of the most special places to celebrate Pride Month in the world.

The History Of Pride In NY

In 1970, a year after the modern Gay Rights Movement started outside Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street, the first LGBT Pride March in the country took place. Every year since, gay rights activists and their supporters have marched south down Fifth Avenue from midtown Manhattan to the West Village.

As the first LGBT Pride march in the country and one of the largest every year, NYC Pride is a special and memorable experience for participants from around the world. And the march is not the only Pride event during June, Pride Month in NYC.

How To Celebrate Pride Month In NYC

Unofficial NYC Pride events take place throughout the month of June, and businesses celebrate with specials on retail merchandise, hotel rooms, and other purchases. Official NYC Pride events, however, kick off with an evening rally on June 16th in Foley Square. On Sunday, June 18th, the fifth annual Pride Luminaries Brunch will be held. The event, taking place at The Garden by David Burke Kitchen, celebrates business leaders who have made an impact on LGBTQ equality in the workplace.

Official events continue throughout the week, and include OutCinema, a family movie night Lion King screening, and the Village Voice Pride Awards. Brooklyn also has its own schedule of Pride week events. The weekend of the parade is packed with events, including a three-day music festival called Pride Island and two after-work Friday events. Pride events culminate with the big march at 10 am on Sunday, June 25 and a series of after parties that day.
