A short walk from the Nu Hotel, Carroll Gardens is one of the most charming and lovely neighborhoods in Downtown Brooklyn. A great place to just take a walk, it’s also home to a number of delicious restaurants, cool bars, and some great outdoor hangouts. Here are our favorite things to do in Carroll Gardens.

The Other Half Brewing Company

One of the best tasting rooms and brewing companies in Brooklyn, Other Half is a great place to grab a drink and get a buzz in Carroll Gardens. Visit the tap room to sample brews from a rotating list that changes often, and take home t-shirts, growlers and more. Festivals and beer release events take place here as well.

Buttermilk Channel

A charming restaurant in Carroll Gardens, Buttermilk Channel is one of New York’s most famous brunch spots. The Southern-inspired eatery keeps people coming with its hearty, American comfort food menu. The options are plentiful, but we know you can’t go wrong with a biscuit sandwich filled with scrambled eggs and cheddar, some signature buttermilk pancakes, or one of the many eggs benedict choices.

Frankies 457 Spuntino

For one of the of the best restaurants with outdoor seating in Brooklyn, stop by Frankies 457 Spuntino on a warm Carroll Gardens evening. Popular with locals, this Italian restaurant specializes in Tuscan dishes served in a beautifully-lit courtyard. House-made pastas, signature sandwiches, a craft cheese selection—it’s all great here.

Carroll Park

When it’s time to take a break from restaurants and bars, or find something fun to do with kids in Brooklyn, check out the neighborhood’s favorite park. Carroll Park is Brooklyn’s third oldest park, and it’s a nice place to find play equipment, refreshing plants, a granite World War 1 monument, and beautiful scenery with the surrounding brownstones.

Lucali

Long lines and rave reviews guarantee that Lucali is one of the best pizza places in Brooklyn, and it’s in Carroll Gardens. Its signature thin-crust pies live up to the hype, and you can make the experience all the more fun since its BYOB.
