Celebrate National Dog Day at NU Hotel

Parents of puppies and canines of all ages can look forward to celebrating your furry friend again this month with National Dog Day fast approaching. Every August 26th, the world of dog lovers takes a day to honor and support adoption and rescue in a larger way. This special day was founded by conservationist and dog trainer Colleen Paige, and in its light, we want to run down some special tips for travelers bringing your pooch on the road.

Here’s a brief guide on how to celebrate National Dog Day at NU Hotel.

Book a Room with NU Hotel

We are excited to be one of the most well-reviewed pet-friendly hotels in Brooklyn. If your pooch is under 50 pounds, we can accommodate them for just a $100 one-time cleaning fee. Just make sure to let us know when booking your room, so we can prepare a personalized dog bowl, and one of our lush embroidered dog beds. From here, you’ll have a great jumping-off point to explore with your dog.

Head to Brooklyn Bridge Park

For a gorgeous place to walk your dog while staying at NU Hotel, Brooklyn Bridge Park is only a mile away from our property. It features stunning views of the water and city, as well as a beach, promenade, cafe, and even a dog park named the Pier 6 Dog Run. You can take your pup to go meet some friends, and then walk along the water and see the park’s many piers, and then end up at another pup-friendly hangout at Hillside Dog Park.

Check Out Prospect Park

A slightly longer walk, and an easy taxi or subway ride, Prospect Park is another fantastic place to go with your pooch this National Dog Day. You can really explore this massive space for a long time. And there are loads of attractions throughout for the whole family including the Dongan Oak Monument, The Picnic House in Prospect Park, and even the Prospect Park Dog Beach.

Brooklyn’s Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants

If you’re on the hunt for some food and don’t want to ditch your dog on their day of honor, then you can choose from nearly 170 pet-friendly restaurants in Brooklyn. Like Manhattan, these establishments welcome dogs at their outdoor tables. Some options near NU Hotel include Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue and Habana Outpost Brooklyn
