Every August 26th, the world of dog lovers takes a day to honor and support adoption and rescue in a larger way. This special day was founded by conservationist and dog trainer Colleen Paige, and in its light, we want to run down some special tips for travelers bringing your pooch on the road.

A slightly longer walk, and an easy taxi or subway ride, Prospect Park is another fantastic place to go with your pooch this National Dog Day. You can really explore this massive space for a long time. And there are loads of attractions throughout for the whole family including the Dongan Oak Monument, The Picnic House in Prospect Park, and even the Prospect Park Dog Beach.
